DOs and DON'Ts of Wood Floor Maintenance
In between service times here are a few thing to keep in mind.
Always: Place Protector pads on ALL furniture legs on wood floor.
Always: Place walk off mats and area rugs in high traffic areas (make sure they stay dry and are cleaned underneath often).
Always: Perform routine maintenance as recommended by manufacturer, this should include sweeping, vacuuming (with a soft brush attachment) and/or dust mopping to remove dirt and grit. Keep this as a regularly scheduled event, and stick to it. Always perform this process before and after a major event that involves a high volume of traffic on the floor.
Always: Use a microfiber cleaning pad with a recommended cleaning solution, such as Squeaky Clean or Bona Wood Floor Cleaner. The pad should be slightly damp and well rung out (never over wet wood floors). Make sure to use a freshly laundered microfiber cloth each time your start the cleaning process. These pads can be washed after excessive buildup.
Always: Keep high heel shoes in good repairs, as well as keeping your pets nails trimmed on a regular basis.
Always: Clean any spills up immediately.
Never: Use WET mops or STEAM mops
Never: Use ammonia
Never: Use dust cleaners
Never: Track dirt, if so, clean immediately
Never: Use other floor cleaning products
Never: Wax a urethane finish
Just remember these three easy steps:
1. Vacuum your floors on a weekly basis (more often if needed)
2. Use the correct cleaning solution (Squeaky or Bona floor cleaner)
3. Use a microfiber mop head when mopping your floors
